Eleanor M. Caylor, 95

Eleanor M. Caylor, 95, Punxsutawney, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at home.

She was born on July 23, 1918, in Bell Township near Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late George A. and Edna Mae (Barnett) Snyder.

On Jan. 21, 1939, she married Vernon Glenn Caylor, who survives.

Mrs. Caylor graduated from the Punxsutawney High School in 1935.

She had a bachelor of science degree and a master of education degree from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and taught school for 30 years in Bell Township, Ringgold Township, the Punxsutawney Area and at Clarion University.
She was a cooperating teacher for Clarion University.

She was a published author of classroom educational materials in the areas of English grammar and linguistics.

Mrs. Caylor was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Punxsutawney.

She had been a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Organizations of which she had been a member of include the American Association of University Women, the Delta Kappa Society for Key Women Educators, the P.E.O., which is a philanthropic educational organization, and the Pennsylvania School Retirees.

Mrs. Caylor was an avid reader.

She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and keeping in touch with family and friends through e-mail.

In addition to her husband, Glenn, surviving relatives include seven children, Myron Caylor of Icklingham, England, George Caylor and wife JoAnne of Lynchburg, Va., Gary Caylor and wife Donna of Fayetteville, Ark., Barbara Aaron and husband Neal of Charlotte, N.C., Marilyn Caylor of Summerville, S.C., Susan Funderburk and husband Memmon of Dunwoody, Ga., and Ellen Schneider and husband Mark of Raleigh, N.C.; six grandchildren, Andrea Baugher and husband Cory of Columbus, Ohio, Allison Chamberlain and husband Justin of Malaysia, Scott Caylor and wife Karmen of Victoria, Texas, Gina Caylor of Seattle, Wash., Michael Schneider of Roanoke, Va., and Daniel Schneider of Raleigh, N.C.; three great-granddaughters; and a sister, Patricia Hockin of Indiana, Pa.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Mary Smith.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at the funeral home, with Pastor Kenneth Alt officiating.

Interment will be at St. Johns Cemetery.
