Eleanor Jean Bennett, 84, Big Run, died Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at McKinley Health Center, Brookville.

She was born Sept. 30, 1926, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Elmer and Opal (Kauffman) Freedline.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Bennett was a member of Paradise United Church of Christ Church. 
She was a hard-working woman. She would pick and sell vegetables with her son at Bennett’s Farm. She also enjoyed being with her grandchildren. 

Surviving relatives include three sons, Michael R. Bennett and wife Sharon of Big Run, Robert W. Bennett and wife Georgia of Ashtabula, Ohio, and Bill Bennett and wife Judy of Punxsutawney; two daughters, Diane Guth and husband Michael of Brookville, and Barbara Hawk of Rossiter; a sister, Joyce Henry and husband Jim of Lincroft, N.J.; and 12 grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Freedline; and a sister, Margaret Orsich.

Arrangements were private and under the direction of the Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home Inc., Big Run.

Interment was in Lakelawn Memorial Park.
