Edward C. Geist, 51

Edward C. Geist, 51, Punxsutawney, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012.

He was born in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Clair and Elsie (Burkett) Geist.

In October of 1985, he married Laurie J. DeFoor, who survives.

He was a member of the First Church of God of Punxsutawney.

Mr. Geist enjoyed hunting and working, and he loved spending time with his family.

He was a well tender for J.R. Resources and worked for the company for 27 years.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include a son, Cadet Jacob Geist, Pennsylvania Army Reserve National Guard, of Punxsutawney; a daughter, Maggie Geist of Colorado; a sister, Diana Stiver and husband Richard of Punxsutawney; in-laws Gene and Margaret DeFoor of Punxsutawney; a sister-in-law, Becky Catanzarito and husband Dominic of Punxsutawney; two brothers-in-law, Mike DeFoor and wife Dianne of North Huntingdon and Ed DeFoor and wife Marcia of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at the First Church of God of Punxsutawney with Pastor Gregory Tibbs and Pastor Wayne Anderson officiating.

Interment will be in Coolspring Cemetery.
