Edith J. Snyder, 77, of Punxsutawney, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

Mrs. Snyder was born May 18, 1935, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Raymond S. Bair and Cora V. (White) Snyder.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay C. Snyder.

Mrs. Snyder was a member of the First Church of God, where she was a devoted Sunday School worker for more than 40 years.

Edith was also a secretary for Cloe Lumber.

She enjoyed housekeeping and spending time with her family.

Surviving relatives include four step-daughters, Donna Snyder of New York, Nelda Rockwell and husband Charles of Lower Burrell, Shelda Kramer and husband Robert of Big Run, and Sarah Gula and husband David of Sykesville; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Jay, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Wilber Bair, Wayne Bair, Mervin Bair, Raymond Bair Jr. and Warren Bair; and three sisters, Pauline Prokay, Frances Pearce and Olive Fetterman.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at the funeral home with the Rev. John Swonger officiating.

Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Punxsutawney.
