PUNXSUTAWNEY — If you missed the Eddie James Aug. 31 concert at Barclay Square due to the football game and other scheduling conflicts, then Wednesday is your chance to see him for free at the Alliance Church located in Young Township.

Drinda Smith is the organizer of the original event, which was held to honor the memory of her son, Joel Riggleman, 19, and teens Sean McConnaughey, 18, and Dylan Behrendt, 19, all of Punxsutawney, who
died in a car crash near Dayton in November of 2011.

Smith said James had contacted her several weeks ago and said he and his
band would be traveling through the area, and he would perform a free concert if it could be scheduled.

"It was too bad that there were so many conflicts back in August when we first scheduled Eddie James to be here," Smith said, adding that she couldn't believe that he called and offered to play for free.

She said there will be a “love offering” taken up to help with his expenses, but there is no charge for the event, which is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Alliance Church, located at 1307 South Main St. (Route 436) in Young Township.

Smith said the doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be free pizza and hot dogs for those in attendance.

"Those who saw (the show) in August told me how much they enjoyed it and what a dynamic performer and worship leader he is," she said of James.

Smith said that James’ ministry is aimed primarily at youth, but anyone can come and be a part of his exciting and upbeat worship style.

"It is also the first day of Lent, and if anyone was looking for something to get them fired up for the Easter season, this would be a good way to do it," Smith said.

"Since my son’s death, I've had a burden to see young people come to the Lord," she said, "Jesus has the answer, no matter your age or what (your) burden is, (to) the many challenges that teenagers face today."

Smith said Eddie James Ministries was founded in 1993 and travels with about 35 young adults ministering through drama and music.

She said they've traveled throughout America, Europe and Japan.

Smith said all high school and college age youth are invited for an evening of dance, drama, rap, worship and testimonies.
