PUNXSUTAWNEY — The owner of East American Motorsports, Route 119, is offering a reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for stealing an expensive utility vehicle from the premises.
Brian Setree, who has owned and operated East American at its Route 119 location for 10 years, said actors stole a 2011 Polaris Ranger 800XP Limited Edition valued at $11,800.99 between 2 and 3 a.m. Wednesday morning.
“Someone knew what they were doing. They knew which cameras were off, which one to move, and they cut the fence” that surrounds a lot behind and beside the main building, Setree said Wednesday afternoon.
The vehicle, also known as a “side-by-side,” is blue and white. Another model that is exactly the same as the stolen vehicle was stored in East American’s showroom.
This isn’t the first time someone has stolen a piece of equipment from East American, and after the last incident, the business installed the fence and surveillance cameras.
“We haven’t had anything really major since we put up the cameras, but they obviously knew what they were doing,” Setree said.
Some video footage caught the actors moving the cameras so they couldn’t detect the actors, but that’s about it, he said.
After the last incident, staff members bring what equipment they can inside the showroom. In this case, however, there simply was no more room indoors to place the Polaris.
Anyone with information on this incident should contact Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police — which is also investigating — at 938-0510, or East American at 938-4320.
