Earlajane Burkett, 87, Punxsutawney, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at the DuBois Nursing Home.

She was born Dec. 31, 1923, the daughter of the late Howard A. and Edna (Nichols) Jones.

Jan. 6, 1943, she married Kermith F. Burkett, who preceded her in death July 26, 2000.

Mrs. Burkett was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Punxsutawney, and she was a retired employee of J.C. Penney of Punxsutawney.

Surviving relatives include a son, David Burkett and wife Karen of Punxsutawney; a daughter, Sandra Kaheny of New Port Richey, Fla.; three granddaughters, Erin Morelli, Tara Williams and Kelly Rieth; and two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Anthony Morelli.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Richard Jones; and a sister, Mary Peters.

At the request of the family, a private funeral service will be held at the Deeley Funeral Home in Punxsutawney, with Pastor James Pond officiating.

Interment will be at the Oliveburg Cemetery.

The family has requested that memorials be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, N.Y., 10004.
