Eagles’ glockenspiel an artistic representation of Punxsutawney, club and other cultures

PUNXSUTAWNEY — When it comes to art, the town of Punxsutawney knows how to capture it at its finest.

Throughout this lovely town, one will most certainly find murals, crafty signs, wood-carved art, and of course the famous Phantastic
Phils. However, it is in front of the Eagles Club that passersby and tourists may be drawn to perhaps one of the more fascinating, often unnoticed, pieces of art — a Tree Clock Glockenspiel.

In October 2005, the Eagles celebrated its 100th anniversary with the unveiling of a rare piece that was created by the Verdin Company of
Ohio.

The piece is a tree clock featuring three clocks and a thermometer — but the features don't stop there.

Every hour, four little groundhog statues come out of the top, and the tree begins to play music.
