September 18, 2013

DUBOIS — DuBois-based Pennsylvania State Police reported early Wednesday morning that an Ashtabula, Ohio, man was killed in an accident at the 90.2 milepost on Interstate 80 westbound Tuesday night.

Police said that at 7:04 p.m., a crash occurred as a 2007 Ken-
worth truck pulling a 2009 Trail King trailer, driven by James M. Gilchrist, 35, of Meadville, was stopped on the interstate due to traffic ahead of his unit.

Police said a 2000 International truck pulling a flatbed trailer, driven by Marshall W. Sterba, 44, Ashtabula, Ohio, failed to stop prior to striking the back of Gilchrist’s unit.

Sterba was declared deceased by police, and Gilchrist suffered moderate injuries. Both were wearing their seatbelts.

An investigation is ongoing.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact PSP-DuBois at (814) 371-4652.
