Dr. Thomas E. Cressley, DDS, 89, Punxsutawney, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at his home.

He was born March 13, 1922, in Glen Campbell, a son of the late Clayton and Marvel (Gibson) Cressley.

Aug. 13, 1950, he married Florinda (Anderson) Cressley, who preceded him in death Dec. 16, 1997.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Dr. Cressley was a retired dentist and a graduate of Glen Campbell High School, Waynesburg University and the University of Pittsburgh Dental School.

He was a member of the John W. Jenks Masonic Lodge No. 534, B.P.O. Elks No. 301 and the Glen Campbell Rod & Gun Club.

Surviving relatives include three sons, Dr. Thomas E. Cressley Jr. and wife Gloria of Punxsutawney, Charles C. Cressley and wife Debra Kay of Punxsutawney, and Scott A. Cressley and wife Gail of Iowa; a daughter, Karla A. Cressley of Punxsutawney; and eight grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Hudock.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at the funeral home with Pastor Maureen Seifried officiating.

Interment will be in the Anita Community Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
