Douglas M. "Gunny" Craft, 53, Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at the VA Medical Center in Oakland.

He was born Dec. 9, 1957, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late James Craft and Sarah (Cameron) Craft-Bartlebaugh.

He was married to Susan L. (Snyder) Craft, who survives, of Punxsutawney.

Mr. Craft served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a gunnery sergeant from 1975 until 1995, before retiring as a career Marine.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include two daughters, Tara S. Craft and Chanta R. Craft, both of Punxsutawney; two brothers, Brad Craft and wife Donna of Brookville, and Ed Bartlebaugh and wife Amy of Anita; two sisters, Colleen Humble and fiancé Bill Henneman, and Kimberly Hutchins, all of Punxsutawney; a grandchild, Jackson Fye of Punxsutawney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Lewis Craft; and a brother, Tommy Lewis Craft.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the McCabe Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2011, at the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Dimmick officiating.

Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Rossiter with full military honors accorded by the U.S. Marine Corps.

Donations may be made in Mr. Craft's name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
