Douglas H. Snyder, 56, Mayport, died suddenly Saturday, June 4, 2011, in Newark, N.J.

He was born July 26, 1954, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Howard D. “Snitz” and Sarah Josephine “Jo” (Caylor) Snyder.

Dec. 13, 1997, he married Doris J. (Hendricks) Snyder, who survives, of Mayport.

Mr. Snyder drove a truck for J&B Leasing Company of Toledo, Ohio.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include a son, Josh Snyder of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Michelle Burkett and husband Mark of Palmerton; three step-daughters, Wyonetta Hama and husband Tom of Parma Heights, Ohio, Brenda Clarke of Emlenton, and Amy Nunley and Jim Friend of Brookville; two grandchildren, Colin and Ryan Burkett; six step-grandchildren, Jessica and Matthew Hama, David, Samantha and Shara Clarke, and Jacob Nunley; a sister, Kathy Goss and husband John of Ringgold; a brother, Thomas D. Snyder of Mayport; and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Alcorn Funeral Home, Hawthorn.

A memorial service for family and friends in honor of Mr. Snyder will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at the residence of Allen Kennedy,12262 Rt. 36, Brookville, Pa. 15825. Covered dishes are welcome.
