Doug Clay Horne, Jr., 40, of Punxsutawney, died Sunday, June 30, 2013, at home.

He was born Feb. 27, 1973, in Punxsutawney, a son of Doug Clay Horne, Sr. and Earla Jane (Schaffer) Horne.

He was baptized at the First Christian Church.

Mr. Horne worked as a rock truck driver for Amfire Coal Company.

He was a hard worker and enjoyed working.

Doug was a big-hearted, family-oriented man who loved his children deeply.

He had a lot of caring friends who would have done anything for him.

His uncle, Homer Schaffer, was a very special man he looked up to and loved very much.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sons, Brady and Bryce Horne; a sister, Delinda Perry and husband Rich III of Anita; two nephews, Dillon and Hunter Perry; his maternal grandfather, John Charles Schaffer Sr.; and lots of aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him very much.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Betty Lou Schaffer; his paternal grandmother, Janie Marie Naylor; and his
paternal grandfather, Bias B. Horne.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Earl Flick.
