Dorothy Mae Nicholson, 75, of Punxsutawney, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Nicholson was born Dec. 10, 1936, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Eugene and Faye (Young ) Jordan.

On March 27, 1956, she married her husband, Harold M. Nicholson, who survives, of Punxsutawney.

Mrs. Nicholson attended the First Church of God.

She enjoyed collecting angels, vacationing in Myrtle Beach for the winter, going to church camp and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Harold, surviving relatives include three sons, Gary Nicholson and wife Debbie, Randy Nicholson and wife Jeannette, and Dave Nicholson and wife Melanie; three daughters, Linda Vasbinder and husband Ernie, Debbie Knarr and husband Kermit, and Diane Doney and husband Dave; two brothers, Charles Jordan and wife Linda and Donald Jordan and wife Carolyn; a sister, Ruth Petroff and husband Carl; 14 grandchildren, Tabitha, Keith, Laura, Lisa, LeAnn, Amy, Jessica, Jodi, Matthew, Sherri, Megan, Devin, Jacob and Brooke; 21 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Richard Fry; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Jordan; a sister, Marie Fry; and a sister-in-law, Marian Jordan.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at the funeral home with Pastor Wayne Anderson officiating.

Private interment will follow at Oliveburg Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Nicholson's name to DRMC Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.
