Dorothy M. Neal, 96, Punxsutawney (Frostburg), passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Neal was born March 8, 1915, in Coolspring, a daughter of the late Jesse and Cora (Huffman) Smith.

She was married to Harvey Neal, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Neal was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed quilting, gardening and time with her family.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Warren L. Neal of Plumville and Harvey L. Neal of Smicksburg; five daughters, Barbara S. Shoop and husband Donald of Plumville, Patricia A. Horner of Punxsutawney, Joanne Sherry and husband Reed of Dayton, Shirley M. Vinton of Wisconsin and Mary M. Sones of Rochester Mills; a brother, Wayne Smith of Warren, Ohio; 30 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Ronald E. Neal, John P. Neal and William L. Neal; three brothers, Mervin Smith, Martin Smith and Warren Smith; and a sister, Mary Depp.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2011, at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2011, at the funeral home with Pastor Ron Newcome officiating.

Private interment is to follow at Hopewell Cemetery.
