Dorothy (Lloyd) Gilligan, 86

Dorothy (Lloyd) Gilligan, 86, formerly of Rosebud, Coalport, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, at the DuBois Nursing Home.

She was born Oct. 17, 1925, in Irvona, a daughter of the late Gwynne N. and Hazel (McGarvey) Lloyd.

She was married to Donald H. Gilligan, who preceded her in death March 12, 1998.

Mrs. Gilligan worked as a secretary for Swank Brick Yard, Irvona, and as a teacher’s aide for Coalport Elementary School.

She enjoyed traveling, camping, figurine painting and reading, and she was a life member of Coalport United Methodist Church.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Donald “Tom” Gilligan and wife Linda (Ginder) of Mechanicsburg, and Kevin L. Gilligan and wife Tia (Pearce) of Punxsutawney; four grandchildren, Gregory Gilligan and wife Sharon, Jennifer Staciokas and husband David, Kara Gilligan, and Stephanie Bargerstock and husband Brett; a great-grandson, Devin Gilligan; a sister, Betty Meyers and husband Bob of Martinsburg; a sister-in-law, Dorothy (Shope) Gilligan of Rosebud; and a brother-in-law, Carl M. Gilligan of Coalport.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at the Gibbons Funeral Home, Coalport, and from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral service Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at the Coalport United Methodist Church.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at the church with the Rev. Paul Fields officiating.

Committal will be at the Utahville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Coalport United Methodist Church in Mrs. Gilligan's memory.
