Dorothy Jean Gallagher, 75

August 23, 2011

Dorothy Jean Gallagher, 75, Dayton, passed away Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born Oct. 26, 1935, in Kittanning, a daughter of the late Carl and Mable (Little) Rankin.

She was married to her loving husband of 57 years, Walter P. Gallagher, who preceded her in death Feb. 1, 2010.

Mrs. Gallagher was a lifetime resident of the area and a devoted member of Dayton Glade Run Presbyterian Church. Her gardens were her pride and joy, and she spent much time creating these beautiful landscapes.

Surviving relatives include three sons, Richard Gallagher of Kittanning, Ron Gallagher, of Dayton, and Derek Gallagher and wife Brenda, of Gouverneur, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Wagner and husband Chad, Chris Gallagher, Andy Gallagher, Casey Gallagher, Brock Gallagher, Shannon Gallagher, Kylie Gallagher and Liam Gallagher; and three sisters Isabelle Orr and husband Raymond of Jeanette, Thelma Daughtery of Elwood City, and Helen Helle of Charlotte, N.C.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at the Bauer-Bly Funeral Home, 125 East Main St., Dayton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at Dayton Glade Run Presbyterian Church, 2540 Dayton Smicksburg Rd., Dayton, with the Rev. Laurie Milligan officiating.

Interment will be in Dayton Glade Run Presbyterian Cemetery, Wayne Township, Armstrong County.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Bauer-Bly Funeral Home, Inc., Dayton.
