Dorothy J. DuPont, 78, Cochranton, died Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Hamot Medical Center in Erie.

She was born March 15, 1933, in Franklin, the daughter of George and Eva Maria Hovis. 

Aug. 11, 1952, she married the Rev. C. Dale DuPont, who survives.
Mrs. DuPont was a graduate of Rocky Grove High School and a member of the Countryside Evangelical Church in Clarks Mills. 

She was a homemaker and supported her husband in his many church assignments. She also enjoyed fishing and gardening.

In addition to her husband of 58 years, surviving relatives include six children, Douglas DuPont and wife Sarie of Bradford, Dr. Sherry DuPont of Grove City, Terry DuPont of Warren, Diane Uhler and husband Jeff of Springfield, Tenn., Beth Luther and husband David of Waterford, and Stephen DuPont and wife Tracey of Punxsutawney; seven grandchildren, Jason DuPont and wife Dawn, Benjamin DuPont, Kristen Anderson and husband Kyle, Erica Luther, Jayla Dininny and husband Caleb, Cody and Tiffany DuPont; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Sutley and husband Lloyd and Jane Wilson and husband Ron; a brother, Chuck Hovis and wife Sherry, all of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers Jack, Bob, Bill, Fred and Jim Hovis; an infant sister, Peggy; and an infant brother, George Jr.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2011, at the Dickson Family Funeral Home Inc., 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2011, at the funeral home with the Rev. Don Howell of the Countryside Evangelical Church officiating.

Interment will be in the Cochranton Cemetery.
