Donald Lee “Rooster” Himes, 69

Donald Lee “Rooster” Himes, 69, Brush Street, Brookville, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at home.

He was born July 30, 1944, in Brookville, the son of Stewart Vincent Himes and Esther Jane Sprankle Himes.

In 1996, he married Barbara Ann Schrecengost, who preceded him in death on Feb. 27, 2008.

Mr. Himes was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He worked various jobs, including working for Byerly Tire of Brookville, and most recently retiring from Beverage Air in Brookville, after working for them for more than 20 years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching sports.

Surviving relatives include one son, David L. Himes (Charlene) of Punxsutawney; two daughters, Donna Tressler of Cambridge Springs, Pa., and Rhonda J. Hayes of Punxsutawney; two brothers, William V. Himes of Brookville and Robert E. Himes of Brookville; one sister, Nancy Ohls of Falls Creek; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today at McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Timothy McConville officiating.

Interment will be at the Roseville Bethel Cemetery in Union Township, Jefferson County.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 823 Filmore Ave., Erie PA 16505, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
