Donald James Smith, 88

Donald James Smith, 88, known to his family and friends as Jim Smith, passed away on Oct. 2, 2012, in Carson City, Nev.

He was born Sept. 9, 1924, in Juneau, Pa.

He graduated from Rossiter High School, Class of 1942.

Jim was married to Vivian Dunlop Smith, of Rossiter, for 50 years. She preceded him in death.

Jim served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was retired from Minneapolis Honeywell, Inc. after 35 years.

He was a lifelong member of the Masons.

Surviving relatives include a son, Larry J. Smith and wife Ruth of Dayton, Nev.; a daughter, Linda Smith Knight and husband Brian of Apple Valley, Minn.; six grandchildren, Scott Smith, Brooke McGrew, Matthew Smith, David Knight, James Knight and Christy Knight; and five great-grandchildren, Victoria McGrew, Molly McGrew, Kiley McGrew, Madisen Smith and Logan Knight.

Interment will be at Union Cemetery, Rossiter, in the spring of 2013.
