Donald Jacob Brocious, 85, Brookville, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at Jefferson Manor in Brookville.

He was born March 22, 1926, in Mayport, Redbank Township, Armstrong County, a son of Oren C. and Mary (Milliron) Brocious.

He attended the Salem school and worked in the coal mines and construction.

He served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army.

Surviving relatives include three sons, D. Dean Brocious and wife Cheryl of New Albany, Ohio, Jack Brocious and wife Susan of Greys Lake, Ill., and Eric Brocious and wife Brenda of Vandellia, Ohio; two daughters, Joyce Lynn Reynolds of Knox and Barbara Dinger and husband David of Oak Ridge; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Brocious of Girard; and four sisters, Phyllis Markle and husband Ray of Polk, Thelma Ketchner of Watertown, N.Y., Lois Veronesi and husband Milton of Seminole, and Marilyn Bish of Cambridge Springs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Homer Brocious and Gerald Brocious.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at the Alcorn Funeral Home, Hawthorn.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at the Oakland Church of God in Distant with Pastor Jimmy Swogger officiating.

Immediately following the funeral, members of the Walter W. Craig Post 354 American Legion of New Bethlehem will honor their fallen comrade.

Interment will be in the New Salem Cemetery, Redbank Township, Armstrong County.
