Donald J. “Jim” Hemke, 62, Reynoldsville, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born Sept. 8, 1950, in Pittsburgh, a son of Charles L. and Mary Ellen (Williams) Hemke.

On June 16, 1974, he married Peggy J. (Cordaro) Hemke, who survives.

He was a member of the Church of Christ in Paradise, Pa.

He was employed by the S & S Coal Company for over 40 years as a heavy equipment operator.

He enjoyed muzzleloader hunting, hunting and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was a “jack of all trades” and was always there to lend a helping hand to others.

In addition to his wife and mother, surviving relatives include his children, Heath Hemke and wife Linda of DuBois, Heather (Hemke) Haverilla and husband Ray of Indiana, Pa., and Travis Hemke and wife Michelle of Reynoldsville, Pa.; four grandchildren, Houston, Brohm, Marlie and Layne Hemke; three sisters, Barbara Mook, Claire Hemke and Lynn Hemke; and three brothers, Dale Hemke, Darryl Hemke and Dana Hemke.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles L. Hemke; and a brother, Dave Hemke.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at the funeral home with Pastor Barry Fillman officiating.
