Dominic V. Fernichio, 93, Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center, Punxsutawney.

He was born July 11, 1917, in Mt. Jewett, a son of the late Anthony and Angeline (Ignota) Fernichio.

Mr. Fernichio was married to Grace (Gigliotti) Fernichio, who preceded him in death.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Normandy Landings and the Battle of the Bulge.

Mr. Fernichio was a clerk at Brown’s Boot Shop and a member of Ss. Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church in Punxsutawney.

Surviving relatives include a daughter, Angela Fletke and husband Rick of Dearborn, Mich.; a son, Anthony Fernichio and wife Diane of Mesa, Ariz.; a sister, Bertha Dubensky of Punxsutawney; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Pat, Mike, Joe and Frank Fernichio.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at Ss. Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. William Laska officiating.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
