District attorney Burkett speaks about problem of heroin in Jefferson County

BROOKVILLE â In recent months, heroin abuse has acted as the centerpiece of a number of high-profile criminal cases in Jefferson County and the surrounding area, and many are beginning to ask: why, and what can be done to stop it?
On Thursday, Jefferson County District Attorney Jeff Burkett attempted to answer some of those questions with his presentation of âHeroin in our Hometownâ at the Heritage House in Brookville.
His speech explored the issue from his perspective serving as district attorney for more than 15 years now.
"I've had a number of cases that have really shed a light on the drug culture," Burkett said.
