PUNXSUTAWNEY — Following a strong Saturday season-opening performance, Bo Dinger led the Punxsy boys' cross country squad over Elk County Catholic Tuesday. Dinger took the top spot by a commanding 34 seconds, as the Chucks claimed the dual meet by a score of 24-45.

Dinger crossed the final line by the top time of 18:08, 34 seconds ahead of runner-up Ryan Detsch's 18:42 of ECC. Following ECC's second finisher, Punxsy claimed the next three spots with a fourth place from Matt Burke (19:30), fifth by Eric Ingros (19:45) and 6th from Seth Burkett (20:16).

"With the day being pretty humid and a delay to the start of the race, we saw times that were not as fast as Saturday, but our course here is tougher," said Chucks head coach John Smith.

"Bo (Dinger) had a pretty good time and actually had one other time running around 18 minutes on our course. In his first year out, Burke also had a good day. We will look four improvement from everyone from here."

The six other varsity boys' runners saw Jerad Meterko (20:27) and Luke Fugate (20:44) come across eighth and ninth. Zachary Moore and Joe Whitman were the next boys to complete the course in 21:38 and 23:15.

Nate Hankinson (25:53) and William Boddorf (26:22) rounded out the Chucks' runners.

Punxsy will have a week off before facing the hilly course in Brockway for a dual meet starting at 4:15 p.m.
