Denny Walter Lee Young, 74

Denny Walter Lee Young, 74, of Punxsutawney, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at Christ the King Manor.

He was born Nov. 25, 1938, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Franklin and Florence (Weaver) Young.

On Oct. 1, 1963, he married Monika Sparks. She survives.

He was a member of Punxsutawney Eagles.

Denny enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching wrestling.

He used to really enjoy putting off fireworks for his dog "Dufus," who liked the fireworks more than the kids did.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Peg Young and husband David Oberg, Tabitha Mahan and Rebecca Reddinger and husband Dan, all of Punxsutawney; and one son, Robert Young of Emporium; nine grandchildren, Jamie Young, Jessica Oberg, Allan, Brenda and Christina Mahan, Cameron and Drew Young, Stephanie Hook and husband Steven and Dan Reddinger, Jr.; and two great-grandchildren, Josh Troup, Jr. and Parker Reddinger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ellsworth, Angus and John Young; and a nephew, Calvin Young.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

Military honors will be accorded at 8 p.m. Tuesday by the Jefferson County Veterans Honor Guard.

Interment will be private at Georgeville Cemetery.
