Delmont "Smokey" Woods, 79

Delmont "Smokey" Woods, 79, Rossiter, passed away Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born April 8, 1932, in Rossiter, a son of the late John and Edith (Oaks) Woods.

July 5, 1980, he married Elizabeth (Vandervort) Woods, who preceded him in death Sept. 23, 2011.

Mr. Woods was an avid baseball fan and also loved football and fishing.
Surviving relatives include a son, Gary Woods and fiancée Becky DeLuna of Arlington, Texas; a daughter, Sandra Martini and husband Scott of Brighton, Mich.; three step-sons, Irvin "Dick" Deemer and wife Sandra of Illinois, Blair Deemer and wife Jan of Michigan, and Daniel Deemer of Colorado; three step-daughters, Mary Lou Rittenhouse and husband John of Rochester Mills, Mona Ann Harringer and husband Randy of Summerville, and Hazel Gaston and husband Joe of Brookville; three grandchildren, David Lindsay, Angie Globun and Del Bouch; three great-grandchildren, Kayla, Dravin and Rylan Bouch; numerous step-grand- and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Art Woods and John Woods, both of Rossiter; and two sisters, Erma Astorino of Punxsutawney and Helen Yeager of Indiana.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clayton Woods; and two sisters, Ruth Carnahan and Delores Rowan.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, at the McCabe Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at the funeral home with Joseph Buterbaugh officiating.

Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Rossiter.
