Defending Punxsutawney Phil

PUNXSUTAWNEY — The primary mission of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club is perpetuating and protecting the Legend of Punxsutawney Phil and Groundhog Day.

This has been a challenging feat for the Groundhog Club throughout the years.

The importance of protecting the trademark and legend of Phil is not only important for the Groundhog Club and the Groundhog Day Celebration, but also for others in the community who utilize Phil for their livelihood, the local economy and tourism.

Over the years, the Groundhog Club has implemented a system of protecting the trademark with different classifications in trademark recognition and royalty agreements.
