Dean HeLal, 80

Dean HeLal, 80, of Punxsutawney, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at home.

He was born June 3, 1932, in Northfork, W.Va., the son of the late Hussein and Badia HeLal.

He was married to Diane (Cameron) HeLal, who survives.

He was the owner of Punxy Phil's Family Restaurant in Punxsutawney. He previously owned Mr. Dean's Richman Brothers Men's Store and Perkin's Family Restaurant at the Punxy Plaza.

He was a 50-year member of John W. Jenks Lodge No. 534, Free and Accepted Masons and Jaffa Shrine in Altoona, and he was also a member of the Punxsutawney Country Club.

Mr. HeLal was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Punxsutawney.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Diane, surviving relatives include five children, Jeffery HeLal and wife Donna of Mesquite, Texas, Mrs Greg (Cathi) Lindsey of Atlanta, Ga.; Kyle HeLal of Pittsburgh; Breanna HeLal of Austin, Texas; and Brittany HeLal of Punxsutawney; four brothers, Sam HeLal and wife Bernice of Denton, Texas, Ray HeLal and wife Nuhad of Denton, Texas; Cris Credair and wife Betsy of California; and Andrew HeLal and wife Rachel of Chicago, Ill.; and four grandchildren, Jaryd HeLal, Carlie Adair, Austin Lindsey and Megan Lindsey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandchild, Megan HeLal; and two nephews, Damon and Darren HeLal.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

The officers and members of the John W. Jenks Lodge will hold a Masonic funeral service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Punxsutawney wit the Rev. James N. Pond officiating.

The family suggests that donations in memory of Dean be made to the Hahne Cancer Center, 100 Hospital Ave., DuBois, PA 15801.
