David Howard Potts, 87

David Howard Potts, 87, Marion Center, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at his residence.

He was born May 12, 1925, in Home, a son of the late Arthur R. and Esther E. (Northine) Potts.

He was married to Marybelle Geesey Potts, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Potts proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he helped in the engineering and building of the Panama Canal.

He was the owner and operator of Dave’s Welding Service and for 46 years, along with his family, he was the owner and operator of Marion Center Speedway, one of Indiana County’s favorite racing establishments.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, June Potts and fiancé Richard Leydic Jr., and Janet Potts, all of Marion Center; a brother, Charles E. Potts and wife Carol of Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2012, at Robinson-Lytle Inc., Indiana, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2012, with Pastor Carl White officiating.

Indiana VFW Post 1989 will conduct a military flag folding.
