Darrell F. Bowser, 66, Mahaffey, died Monday, June 6, 2011, at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh.

He was born Aug. 14, 1944, in Mahaffey, a son of the late Frank M. and Dorothy Mae (Peace) Bowser.

April 26, 1969, he married Lana N. (Russell) Bowser, who survives, of Mahaffey.

Mr. Bowser was the owner of Bowser Precision in Mahaffey. He loved turkey hunting, fishing, weekends at camp with the guys, riding horses, gardening and the outdoors. He drove racecar No. 89 and was the former Rookie of the Year in the coupe division.

He was a 1964 graduate of Purchase Line High School and a 1966 graduate of Williamsport Community College.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include two sons, Andrew D. Bowser of Hollidaysburg and Adam L. Bowser of Mahaffey; two daughters, Kelley N. Frederick of DuBois and Heather D. Bowser of Kapolei, Hawaii; five brothers, Ronald E. Bowser, Edwin R. Bowser and wife Ellen, M. Dean "Pete" Bowser, Robert W. Bowser, all of Mahaffey, and Gerald Bowser and wife Shirley of Big Run; a sister, Janet Harter and husband Bill of Blairsville; and six grandchildren, Delona Bowser, Roman Bowser, Vanessa Bowser, Loretta Blough, Gabriel Blough and Heather Frederick.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2011, at the McCabe Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011, at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Price officiating.

Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box A, Torrance, Pa. 15779, or to the Mahaffey Ambulance or the Mahaffey Fire Company.
