Dannie Allen Austin, 65, Punxsutawney, passed away, Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011.

He was born June 14, 1946, in Hanson, Ky., a son of the late Rufus Elbert and Girdie Lee (Ruby) Austin.

He was married to Christine J. (Stoffella) Austin, who survives, for 31 years.

Mr. Austin loved his family and friends above all else. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include his son, Daniel C. Austin of Punxsutawney; and three brothers, Jimmie Austin and wife Betty, Jerry Austin and wife Beverly, and Micheal Austin and wife Darla, all of Kentucky.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at the McCabe Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
