Daniel Joseph Shively, 23, Bishop, Calif., formerly of Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011, in Eureka, Calif.

He was born April 25, 1988, in Punxsutawney, a son of Daniel W. Shively and Stacey R. Serian Love, who survive.

He graduated from Punxsutawney Area High School in 2006.

Mr. Shively was Methodist by faith and attended Calvary United Methodist Church in Rossiter.

He was an accomplished musician who played guitar, drums and keyboard, and he had recently completed recording his first 18-track rap album.

He worked in the music industry in Las Vegas and California.

He enjoyed skateboarding and rock climbing.

In addition to his parents, surviving relatives include his step-father, Timothy S. Love of Punxsutawney; his step-mother, Denise Barger of Bishop, Calif.; a brother, Braden Timothy Love of Punxsutawney; a sister, Cassidy Elizabeth Love of Punxsutawney; his maternal grandfather, Samuel Serian and fiancee Nancy Verdill of Rossiter; his paternal grandparents, Thomas and Joanne Shively of Punxsutawney; his maternal step-grandmother, Dorothy Love Coroian of Punxsutawney; two aunts, Heather Serian Kunselman and husband Sean of Rossiter, and Sharon LaBorde and husband Paul of Sykesville; two uncles, John Love and wife Julie of Bridgeport, W.Va., and David Love and wife Janeen of Rossiter; and many cousins, including Rooney James Kunselman, Sean and Samantha LaBorde, and Mark, Timberly, Mike, Andrew, Matthew, Jacob, Jenna, JD, Joselyn and Joshua Love.

He is also survived by his girlfriend, Emerald Dickens of California.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ruth Stamler Serian; and his great-grandparents, Paul and Marjorie Mottern, and Fred and Lucinda Serian.

Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A private funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Donald Brauer and Pastor James Pond officiating.

Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Rossiter.
