BROOKVILLE — On Tuesday, the Jefferson County Commissioners commended State Rep. and Speaker of the House Sam Smith for his 28 years of service to the 66th District after Smith announced that he would not run for another term.

Commission Chairman Paul Corbin spoke first, saying the county will "miss Sam's leadership and the returns he has brought to this county."

On Friday, Corbin said that he plans to run for the seat on the Republican ticket.

Corbin said an official announcement will be held in the near future.
