PUNXSUTAWNEY — The Punxsutawney Area School Board again returned Gary Conrad as president and Francis J. Molinaro as vice-president during its annual reorganization meeting.

Conducting the early part of the meeting, Solicitor David Young accepted Jeff Martz’s motion and Molinaro’s second to nominate Conrad as president. The motion passed 6-3, with Martz, Molinaro, Conrad and board members Penny Pifer, Roberta Dinsmore and Lesa Conner voting n support.

Board members Bob Pascuzzo, Penny Pearce and Jack White voted against the motion.

With Conrad elected president, he then accepted Conner’s motion and White’s second to nominate Molinaro as vice-president.

The motion again passed 6-3, with Conner, White, Molinaro, Martz, Dinsmore and Conrad voting in support. Pascuzzo, Pearce and Pifer voted against the motion.

The board also approved designating the board’s list of meeting dates for 2011, and accepted a motion by Dinsmore to change the Dec. 5 meeting to Dec. 6.

As the board’s meeting was drawing to an end, Dinsmore pointed out that prior to her election to the board last year, she said she had heard rumors regarding the board as a constant “5-4” voting body — five members voting in support of motions, four voting against.

However, she pointed out that the board has been unanimous in its decisions 83 percent of the time since last November to this December, citing 194 motions that had zero “no” votes. That includes two-straight months of zero “no” votes, Dinsmore said.

Conrad said board members are welcome to ask him about changes or adjustments to their committee assignments.
