Connor Jay Gerg, 16, Brookville, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2011.

He was born Feb. 14, 1995, in Brookville, and was the much beloved son of Beth (Ammerman) and Thomas Gerg, and brother of Christian Gerg.

He played linebacker and fullback on the Brookville Jr.-Sr. High School football team, and was a member of the Gold All-State All-Academic team for scholastic excellence.

He was also a member of the BAHS and American Legion baseball teams, as well as the Brookville Ski Club.

He worked as a lifeguard at the Brookville YMCA.

Connor also enjoyed hunting, video games and being with his friends.
In addition to his parents and brother, he is survived by his grandparents, Joyce “Fritzie” and Lee Courson, and Jack and Doris Gerg, all of Brookville, and Theresa Ammerman, of Clearfield; aunts and uncles Anne and Darren Lyle of Brookville, Fred and Dona Ammerman of Clearfield, Susan Gerg of Sylva, N.C., Hud and Gretchen Gerg of Woodruff, S.C., and Becky Titus and Elliot Metcalfe of Sarasota, Fla.; and cousins Chase and Dane Lyle and Julia and Lauren Ammerman.

Connor also leaves numerous aunts, uncles and cousins from the Clearfield and Philipsburg areas.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, David S. Ammerman, in 2010.

Friends will be received from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at the McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at the Brookville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Caves Jr. officiating.

Interment will be at the Brookville Cemetery, Brookville.

Memorial donations in Connor's name may be made to the Brookville YMCA, 125 Main St., Brookville, Pa. 15825; The Brookville Quaterback Club; and The Rebecca M. Arthurs Memorial Library, 223 Valley St., Brookville, Pa. 15825; or to the charity of the donor's choice.
