PUNXSUTAWNEY âThe Punxsutawney Area Community Center will host its second-annual Raffle Night tonight.
From 6 to 9 p.m., at the Pantall Hotelâs Rooftop, ticket holders are invited to join the festivities as the center raffles away an array of awards.
Guests will be entered into the drawings of numerous winnings, including a 42-inch HD TV; bedroom suite; sofa and chair set; vacuum cleaner; and several cash prizes, said Mick Mumau, president of the centerâs Board of Directors.
Tickets may be purchased at the door tonight.
Even if ticket holders are unable to attend, they will still be entered into the drawings, Mumau said.
However, additional raffles â including chances on Steelers, Penn State football and Pitt basketball tickets, as well as assorted gift baskets from local businesses â will be available to enter only at the event.
âLast year was a tremendous success,â Mumau said. âThe Community Center Board would like to thank the public for all their support this year.â
Proceeds of todayâs sweepstakes will benefit the center.
âItâs always a work in progress,â board member Jeffrey Winfield said.
In addition to Raffle Night, the center recently registered to take part in the âPepsi Refresh Project.â
Currently ranked No. 322, the Punxsutawney Community Center Theater Project has a chance of winning $50,000 to be put toward Jackson Theater renovations.
The decision of which âneighborhood projectâ will win the prize is in the hands of online voters.
If community members would like to support the center but are unable to participate in Raffle Night, Winfield said, the board would appreciate their online votes.
âThey can support us this way, and it doesnât cost anything, itâs just their vote,â he said.
Votes may be cast, one per day, at www.refresheverything.com.
The center would use potential winnings to replace the drapery and stage curtains, update the sound equipment, repair the roof and install a sink in the concession lounge.
âEverything we can improve, we would like to,â Mumau said.
