Clarence Eugene Swarmer, 72

Clarence Eugene Swarmer, 72, of Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at home.

He was born April 19, 1939, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Robert and Margaret Bonelle (Fullerton) Swarmer.

Sept. 13, 1975, he married the former Shirley Ann Daisher, who survives.

Mr. Swarmer served his country during the Vietnam era as a U.S. Marine and later served in the Army National Guard.

He worked as a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation driver’s license examiner in Punxsutawney.

Mr. Swarmer enjoyed talking to people, working and driving truck for Star Iron and Proform Metals.

His biggest enjoyment was his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include two children, Terri Shiock and husband Chuck of Margate, Fla., and Kimberly Swarmer of Punxsutawney; and three grandchildren, Marissa Shiock, Brittnee and Donte Tenon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Smochek; a daughter, Carol Smochek; and two brothers, Robert and James Swarmer.

Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at the Shumaker Funeral Home Inc., Punxsutawney.

The funeral service will be private. 

Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Big Run.
