Chucks ready to improve on last year's success

PUNXSUTAWNEY — The Punxsy eighth-grade boys' basketball team enters the 2010-2011 season coming off a 9-8 seventh-grade campaign.

The Chucks return all of last year's leading scorers, including Ryan Sloniger, Dakota Thomas and Adam Ferko. Punxsy starts the season today at DuBois CC.

After today's game, the schedule is: Vs. Brockway Dec. 15; at Brookville Dec. 17; vs. Altoona White Dec. 22; vs. DuBois Central Catholic Jan. 5; vs. Brookville Jan. 7; at Elk County Catholic Jan. 11; vs. St. Marys Jan. 18; at Bradford Jan. 21; vs. Ridgway Jan. 24; at Altoona Maroon Jan. 26; at DuBois Jan. 28; vs. Clearfield Jan. 31; vs. Elk County Catholic Feb. 4; at St. Marys Feb. 8; at Ridgway Feb. 10; vs. DuBois Feb 11; at Brockway Feb. 14; at Clearfield Feb. 16; and vs. Bradford Feb. 18.

All games are scheduled to begin around 5 p.m. — following the seventh-graders' 4 p.m. start.
