Chucks excel in field to beat Crusaders
ST. MARYS — The Punxsy boys' track and field team won five of the seven field events during a 83-67 victory over Elk County Catholic Tuesday in St. Marys.
"We did what we had to do early in the season," Punxsy head coach John Smith said. "It was a close meet, as we expected, and we did well despite the cold weather."
Punxsy was dominant in the field, led by junior Brody Morgan, who won all three throwing events.
Morgan took first in the discus (117-2), javelin (141-9) and shot put (46-3 1/2).
Also winning in the field for Punxsy were Tyler Presloid in the pole vault (11-6) and Kevin Byars in the long jump (19-8 3/4).

Two other Punxsy sweeps came in the 1,600, with Ward (5:08.5) and Nathan Steffey (5:22.5) finishing after Meterko; and the dicsus, with Jordan London (104-1) and Stephen Stumpf (100-3 1/2) taking second and third.
