ALTOONA — The Punxsy boys' track and field team was strong in every event but the sprints to beat Bellefonte, 98-52, but Altoona's speed was too much for the Chucks during Altoona's 118-32 win during a tri-meet Tuesday in Altoona.

The Chucks (4-3) won every event but the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes, the 110-meter high hurdles and the 4x400-meter relay while dispatching Bellefonte. Against the Mountain Lions, Punxsy won just two events — the 800-meter dash and the javelin.

A.J. Meterko had another strong day for the Chucks, earning Punxsy's only track victory over Altoona. He won the 800 in 2:03.6.

Meterko was also second to Altoona in the 1,600 and 3,200 runs, finishing in 4:33.7 and 10:45.1, respectively. Both of those times were good enough for first-place marks against Bellefonte.

Punxsy's other victory over Altoona came from Brody Morgan, who won the javelin with a throw of 153-11. He beat Altoona's competitors by more than 15 feet and Bellefonte's throwers by nearly 50 feet. Morgan also beat Bellefonte in the shot put (42-3) and finished second to Altoona in the event.

In addition to the successes of Meterko and Morgan, four other Chucks won events against Bellefonte.

Both Kevin Byars and Dylan Lettie won a pair of events. Byars was first in the long jump (19-9) and triple jump (40-10), and Lettie won the 300 hurdles (45.1) and high jump (5-2). Byars was second in the long jump against Altoona, and Lettie was second in the high jump against Altoona.

Jordan London (discus, 116-8) and Tyler Presloid (pole vault, 11-9) each won field events against Bellefonte for the Chucks, and Punxsy's 4x100 and 4x800 squads bested the Raiders.

In the 4x100, Glenn Perry, Devon Luzell, Matt Burke and Spencer Fiumara won in 47.7. In the 4x800, Nate Ward, Kevin Hughes, Quinton Weber and Derick Kelly were victors in 8:55.2.

Hughes was also second to both Altoona and Bellefonte in the 400-meter dash (54.9), and Jesse Reichard finished third against both schools in the high jump (5-2).

Lettie placed in a total of three events on the day against Bellefonte. After winning the 300 hurdles and high jump, he was also second in the 110 high hurdles in 18.8. In that event, Lettie was followed by Lance Deet (18.9), who finished third.

Devon Luzell finished second in the 100 dash (11.8) and shot put (38-1 1/2), and Tyler Presloid was second in the triple jump (38-8) and third in the long jump (18-10).

Ryan Presloid joined his brother, Tyler, and Byars during Punxsy's triple jump sweep with a 34-6 leap, and the Chucks also swept the discus against Bellefonte thanks to the efforts of London, Morgan (115-11) and Stephen Stumpf (100-5).

The Chucks' Fiumara (25.4) and Perry (25.7) were second and third in the 200 dash, and Ward (11:00.0) and Caleb Fugate (11:28) finished second and third in the 3,200 run versus the Raiders.

The Chucks will have two days off before heading to the West Central Coaches meet at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Altoona.
