Charles Ivan “Tippy” Dinger, 97

Charles Ivan “Tippy” Dinger, 97, Grove City, formerly of Knox Dale, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010.

He was born Aug. 27, 1913, a son of the late Joseph W. and Rachel E. (Wolfe) Dinger.

April 4, 1936, Mr. Dinger married Anna Mae Catherine (Miller) Dinger, who preceded him in death Dec. 10, 1993. Dec. 17, 1994, he married Georgia A. (Tanner) Dinger, who preceded him in death Aug. 28, 2007.

He was a welder by trade and attended the She-Muel Church in Worthville.

Mr. Dinger was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Surviving relatives include four sons, Charles F. Dinger and wife Ruth of Amelia, Va., James R. Dinger and wife Helen of Harrisville, Joseph W. Singer and wife Wanda of Burlington, Ind., and Robert L. Dinger and Mary Ann Porada of Punxsutawney; a daughter, Lorinda E. Marbell and husband Arthur D. Jr. of Boyers; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of step-children, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law; three grandchildren; a brother; three sisters; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at the Methodist Church in Knox Dale with Pastor Joe Buckett officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville.
