Celestine M. Chenoga, 88

Celestine M. Chenoga, 88, Rossiter, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born May 14, 1923, in DeLancey, a daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Runko) Lesnick.

Oct. 9, 1940, she married Louis Chenoga, who preceded her in death Nov. 28, 1985.

She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Rossiter.

Mrs. Chenoga enjoyed cooking, crocheting, spending time with her family and grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Cooper.

She worked at Rola Jensen in Punxsutawney.

Surviving relatives include three sons, Louis F. Chenoga and wife Molly of Patton, Richard Chenoga and wife Norma of Westerville, Ohio, and Lawrence (Larry) Chenoga of Punxsutawney; two daughters, Cheryl Phillips and husband Denny of Punxsutawney and Jennifer Whitesell and husband Edward of Rossiter; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Chenoga; a daughter-in-law Pamela Chenoga; a brother, Francis Lesnick; and a sister, Martha Prokay.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at the Church of Resurrection in Rossiter, with Fr. Timothy J. Kruthaupt officiating.

Interment will be in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Chenoga’s memory to Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
