Carl Kearney Wachob, 83
Carl Kearney Wachob, 83, Punxsutawney, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
He was born Nov. 3, 1930, in Brookville, a son of the late Charles and Mary (Parr) Wachob.
On June 13, 1953, he married Joan (Freas) Wachob, who survives.
He was a member of the Punxsutawney Presbyterian Church, where he served as a past elder of the church.
He enjoyed eating and spending time with his family.
He was a graduate of the Punxsutawney High School Class of 1950.
Mr. Wachob served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1949 to 1982 and retired as a 1SG.
He worked on the railroad and then went to work for Penelec, where he first worked as a lineman and then worked as an engineer for the company.
He was a member of the John W. Jenks Lodge 534; Coudersport Consistory,
where he earned a 32nd degree; Jaffa Shrine of Altoona; Jefferson County ATC Unit; Jefferson County Shrine Club, where he served as an officer; and the Royal Order of Jesters.
In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include three daughters, Terry L. Studebaker of Punxsutawney, Kim A. Robbins and husband John of Punxsutawney, and Mimi Jo Miller and husband Robert of Walston; seven grandchildren, Renee Powell, Loni Studebaker and Rusty Reiter, Carla Studebaker and Todd Carcella, Dodie Robbins, Autumn Siple and husband Aaron, Kayla Jo Brothers and husband Andy, and Thor Miller; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harry Wachob, Max Wachob and wife Sandy, and Paul Wachob and wife Peggy; and two sisters, Sally Kunkle and husband Gene, and Shirley Humble and husband Robert.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Rodgers and Susan Collins; and two brothers, Ed and Fred Wachob.
A family memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at the Punxsutawney Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Brett Swanson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in memory of Mr. Wachob, to the Punxsutawney Presbyterian Church.
