Calvin Dick Yount, 82

Calvin Dick Yount, 82, Valier, died Sunday, June 26, 2011, at Christ the King Manor in DuBois.

He was born May 6, 1929, in Ramseytown, a son of the late Charles Marvin and J. Ruth (Dinger) Yount.

March 20, 1953, he married Doris J. (Brosius) Yount, who survives.
Mr. Yount was a member of the Punxsutawney chapters of the VFW, the American Legion, the Army-Navy Club and the Loyal Order of Moose.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and attained the rank of second lieutenant with the Pennsylvania National Guard.

Mr. Yount worked in coal mining as a heavy equipment operator and with the B&O Railroad as a telegraph operator. He also drove school and ATA buses.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include two daughters, Karen Martino and husband John and Charlene Smilo, all of Punxsutawney; a son, Richard Rex Yount of DuBois; five grandchildren, John Martino and wife Rose, Heather Hicks and husband David, Chad (Cubby) Martino and wife Deidre, Josh Yount and wife Heather and Vanessa Yount; seven great-grandchildren, Autumn Martino, Izabella Martino, Madelyn Martino, Coy Martino, Evan Yount, Eva Yount and Delilah Yount; one step-great-granddaughter, Bailee Hicks; and two sisters, Elsie Brands of Buffalo, N.Y., and Nancy Yates of Brookville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Howard Yount, Marlin Yount, Roger Yount and infant brother Dale Yount.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Lakelawn Memorial Park.

The Yount family has suggested that memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Yount be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
