C. Richard (Skipper) Reed, 91

C. Richard (Skipper) Reed, 91, Ringgold, died Monday, July 11, 2011, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born April 3, 1920, in Ringgold, a son of the late Daniel and Elizabeth Landola (Perry) Reed.

Sept. 19, 1941, he married Mary M. Anderson, who preceded him in death Nov. 8, 2010.

Mr. Reed was a member of the Ringgold United Methodist Church and the Ringgold Sportsmen’s Association. He was also an original member of the Ringgold Area Volunteer Fire Company.

He was retired from Hanley Brick of Summerville.

Surviving relatives include a son, Clifford (Buzz) Reed and wife Cindy of Punxsutawney; and two grandchildren, Christopher Reed and wife Megan and Candy Reed, all of Punxsutawney.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Robert, Albert, Lawrence, John, Lloyd and Homer; and five sisters, Bertha Reed, Lavina Woodrow, Clara Blose, Hazel Himes and Annabel McCool.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2011, at the funeral home with Pastor Joan Rosseaux officiating.

Interment will be at Ringgold Cemetery.
