Byron E. Dinger, 96, of Punxsutawney, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at Jefferson Manor, Brookville.

Mr. Dinger was born March 7, 1917, in Ringgold, the son of the late Ervin E. and Alberta (Shirey) Dinger.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Bertha Mae Dinger, on July 16, 2012.

He was a member of the Scotland Avenue Church of God. He and his wife helped to raise many foster children.

Mr. Dinger is survived by two brothers, John Dinger of Punxsutawney and Richard Dinger of Depthford, NJ.; four sisters, Violet Morse of Pittman, N.J., Marybel Dunn of Chalfont, Lois Mennetti of Punxsutawney and Clare Walker of Henderson, Nev.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife Bertha, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Mary L. Dinger; one sister, Verna Bish; and four brothers, Allen "Bud" Dinger, Carl Dinger, Samuel Dinger and Wayne Dinger.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. with Pastor Bob Ruffner officiating.

Private interment will follow at Lakelawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Dinger's name to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
