Brookville man charged with arson, other counts

BROOKVILLE — Brookville Borough Police are filing charges of arson, criminal mischief, recklessly endangering another person and criminal trespass against Scott E. Bennett, 46, Brookville, following an investigation into a July 18 fire at an apartment building at 182 Jefferson St. in the borough.

The Brookville Volunteer Fire Co., along with other departments, was called to the scene at 1:42 a.m. July 18 for a reported working structure fire at the building owned by a Walston man.

The fire was extinguished with minor smoke and water damage.

The Pa. State Police Fire Marshal was called and assisted with the investigation.

Through the investigation, if was learned that Bennett allegedly set the fire, according to police.
