BROOKVILLE — The Brookville Raiders varsity boys' golf squad was able to top the Punxsy Chucks for the first time since 2006 Wednesday in Brookville.

The Raiders narrowly defeated the Chucks with a 167-172 win at the Pinecrest Country Club.

Brookville's No.1 golfer, Jack Huggins, captured the lowest score Wednesday with a 37.

Punxsy's Mike Blose followed closely behind with 40. Punxsy's Brandon Mancuso was the next lowest with 42. Punxsy's Logan Reed and Brookville's Jordan Tosh both shot a 43. Tate Canavan finished the match with 46 for the Raiders and both Punxsy's Eli Thompson and Brookville's Jacob McLaughlin shot 47.

Punxsy's Blose got off to solid start Wednesday with five pars, then had a little trouble off the sixth tee. He ended up shooting five over on the last five holes.

Brookville's McLaughlin was able to capitalize on the seventh hole when he birdied the par five.

"I'm glad for Brookville," said Josh Conrad, Punxsy varsity head coach. "They kept chipping away at us every year. We didn't play that poorly. 172 is not that bad of a score. We just let mistakes get to us and we failed to capitalize on the good shots — like hitting a par five green in two shots and then three putting. Or three putting all together."

The last time Brookville beat Punxsy was Sept. 18, 2006, by a score of 160-171.
