BROOKVILLE â€” Officials in Brookville Borough are coordinating a preemptive response to forecasted severe weather.
The Brookville Borough Emergency Management Coordinator Steve Hoak, The Jefferson County Department of Emergency Services, the Brookville Police Department, The Red Cross and the Brookville Volunteer Fire Company urge all citizens to take action now against impending inclement weather.
While forecasts are still uncertain, the National Weather Service is predicting severe weather of some extent for our region.
Strong winds, cold temperatures and heavy precipitation have the potential to cause life-threatening situations.
â€˘ Prepare a supply of non-perishable food items capable of sustaining your household for up to seven days.
â€˘ Test all generators now and make sure they have adequate fuel supplies for up to seven days.
â€˘ Collect and gather and evacuation kit, including a warm change of clothes, a flashlight and a battery-operated radio.
â€˘ Local emergency evacuation and warming centers have been identified.

â€˘ With the possibility of cold temperatures and extended power outages, make sure to check on neighbors; especially the handicapped and elderly.
â€˘ Report all emergencies to 911 immediately.
